How I found my passion.

How does an artist find their style? I’ve struggled for years with this question. My first artist passion came at 9 years old when I fell in love with Italian Renaissance paintings at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence Italy. I still remember sitting in front of Botticelli’s “Birth of Venus” declaring I wanted to be a great painter.

as life went on I realizd I had neither the talent or the dedication to become a great master of Renaissance style art. I fought between reality and that 9 year old proclamation for a lot of years. Nothing I did could compare.

In college I fell in love with modernism. I was surrounded by the deconstructionism of the late ‘90’s and influenced by its raw emotion. But it would be my study of interior design that would be me closest to my love of art and design of the early 20th century.

My thirties would bring me to London and I would spend many days in the cities great museums, but non captured my attention more than the Tate Modern. It was here that my experiences and passions would begin to come together. I kept returning to the artist of the early 20th century. They brought me closest to how I wanted to express myself.

Artistic style is definitely a journey, a very personal and powerful journey, that is different for each person. I will continue to grow and follow this path for the rest of my life. Thank you for following my wanderings.
